Fun with G&G

When G&G were here visiting us, I took time off from Y DC and C stayed home from Miss L's house so that we could play all day with G&G. For some reason, G thinks I have a lot of energy and I think I wore her out most days. But we had fun playing outside in the pool, going for walks and taking naps. Aren't we cute together?G played horsey with me in the backyard and watched me as I ran all over the backyard.
I sometimes let them sit down and just hold C.

While they were here, C learned to sit up all by herself. She's been practicing for about 2 months with pillows for support, but when M came home from work last Tuesday evening C was sitting in the middle of the living room with no pillows in sight. G said she had been sitting all day in the swimming pool also, but M was so excited because even up camping 2 days prior she was still using pillows as support.
I took some time to be goofy and the night we took G&G to visit P&G, I took a wig of G's and her cane and started singing my little heart out.
M and C had a little cuddle time also, since G was helping M do her chores around the house. M sometimes thinks she just doesn't do that enough, so she immensely enjoyed the extra minutes she got with C and me.

Family pictures

I have a wonderful family and I just wanted to share some of my recent pictures of all my family members. For the 4th of July, M bought us shirts that said, "Daddy's my hero!" He is indeed our hero and M always reminds him of that on Veteran's Day also. What a wonderful family!
P and G and C and me.
G and G and us girls.
TWO Papa's and TWO Grandma's. I was so excited when G&G were here recently to visit us. I kept going around and telling everyone that I had 2 P's and 2 G's.

60th Birthday

G turned sixty in July. But M and my aunts wanted to surprise her so 3 weeks ago we had a Surprise Birthday party for her.G and her boys!
Probably the biggest surprise was G's nephew that drove up from Santa Fe with his wife for the surprise party. G hadn't seen him for about 8 years and D hadn't seen him since before he went into the Navy--so at least 20 years ago. It was a wonderful surprise and since they were there already, we started the party an hour before the other guests arrive, just so they would have some quiet time to talk.
G's nieces and her nephew!
The nieces and P&G.
SURPRISE!!!

G was very surprised and was very happy so many people came to help her celebrate. Thanks to everyone who made it such a special day for her!

Dirty Thirty

Two week ago, M and I celebrated our birthdays together. D came up with the theme and then went to G for her help in thinking of desserts, games, etc. So for our Dirty Thirty and Dirty Three party we had sloppy joes for dinner, dirt cake in the dump truck, chocolate cupcakes with chocolate pudding inside, Oreo Blizzard ice cream cake and brownies with caramel and marshmallows. The only downfall was that M has given up chocolate (since Easter and for at least the next few months due to the fact that it doesn't agree with C). But M tried a little of every dessert...and even with only about 6 bites felt somewhat sick. So according to M that makes it even easier to stay away from chocolate for the duration of her "ban". Anyhow, D said dirty was the only word he could think of that rhymed with thirty (other than flirty and he didn't think that fit very well!!!!)Aren't we just the cutest birthday girls? G even put dirt on our faces so that we fit in with our theme!! The handprints on the signs are mine!!
My present from P&G--in accordance with the theme--was a Mud Pie Maker. I've had hours of fun with it already, even if I am just using water and grass!

I also got some golf clubs that I just had to try out right away. I even took them camping with us so that lots of people could enjoy them with me.
D and I in our silly party hats!!
Look how much I (and the tree) have grown.
I almost reach the lowest branch!

Cupcakes

On Tuesday night M helped me make my birthday treats for Day Camp. I picked out my own cupcake box at the store. I mixed it with M's help. Then M put the cupcakes in the oven for me. We made one pan plain and the other pan with mini white chocolate chips in them.
I had to taste test them to see if they were good enough to share with my friends.

Once M took them out of the pans, I did all the decorating. I spread the frosting on....

and sprinkled the sugar crystals.

Don't they look yummy?

I was very proud of them and super excited to take them to Day Camp to share with all my friends.

Day Camp

While M is at work all day, I get to spend my days at YMCA Day Camp. I love it. I get to be outside all morning long and play with my friends (back inside after picnic lunch for naps). M knows I have tons of fun, but I get tired and hungry by the evening. I usually finish my sack lunch off in the car on the way home, scarf down supper and fall asleep fast at bedtime. We have snacks and sack lunches outside. We sing lots of songs with fun actions first thing in the morning.
We make fun things and even get to paint our faces.
The best part about DC is that every Thursday we get to ride ponies (every Friday is swimming!)
The first time M told me that we were riding the ponies--the baby horses. That afternoon I corrected her and told her, "Not babies M, big horses!" M just laughed. She realized when you're 3, even the ponies look big!
I try not to have all the fun. C enjoys her time at daycare, too. This summer Miss L invites animals to come and visit her once a month. First they learn about the animal and then they get to pet it.
The first animal was Dora, the Lamb. DC hadn't started yet for me, so I got to have fun with that one.
Look, Ma, no hands!!! Even C is trying her hand at pony riding.

Quick MN trip

This past weekend, we took a quick trip to FF. We stayed with Uncle S and Aunt S. It was fun to see Cousin L's new house. We had lots of fun playing together.Aunt M even came up to join in the fun. We wanted to go to the lake on Saturday but it was too rainy and cold. So instead we hung out at the house, played some games and took a walk downtown to Summerfest.
On Sunday after church, we went and saw M's aunt. Most of M's cousins were also there. We then went and had supper with another aunt and uncle. Even though it was a trip planned on short notice, we saw everybody we wanted to see. Here's Aunt M and C relaxing after the long day. C and I did really well on our car trip. 14 hours each way and we only stopped twice on the way up and 3 times on the way home! M couldn't have asked for better travelers.

Random fun

Since the tattoo on my arm wore off, I got a new tattoo from P&G. I thought I looked pretty good with it.We are ready for summer to get here.
Here we are getting rid of all that summer dirt.
Then we have to help D get rid of the dirt off his bikes.
While M&D worked on the bikes, I played in the swimming pool and C practiced her sitting up.
Look Ma, no hands!!
M wasn't sure if she was practicing sitting, or practicing rolling over!!

Friends Reunion

Over Memorial Day weekend, D had a friends reunion. A lot of people from his days in Montana came and we all hung out at P&G's house for the weekend. Nothing exciting happened, but it was fun just playing outside and talking.
Sunday morning, the younger generations came to our house to have breakfast, while the older generation stayed at P&G so we could all have more intimate conversations.
Here's the whole group of us. Almost 40 people for 3 days of memories from the Camp Cherith and Sidney days.
